Al Batinah Power Company (BATP) is one of the largest operating power companies in the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Batinah Power’s core business activity is to own and operate the Sohar-2 power plant, a gas-fired combined cycle
power generation plant with a contracted power capacity of 744 MW1, located approximately 200km northwest of Muscat in Oman. It currently contributes a significant proportion of Oman's total Main Interconnected System (MIS) capacity. The Sohar Plant is mainly comprised of two Siemens AG SGT5-4000F gas turbines (GT), two triple pressure heat recovery steam generators(HRSG) and a Siemens AG SST5-5000 steam turbine (ST).

Al Batinah Power Company was established in 2010. Following a competitive bidding process run by OPWP in 2009-2010, the founders were awarded the contract to build two plants namely Al Suwadi Power Company for Barka 3 and Al Batinah Power Company for Sohar 2.
