Eurozone economic sentiment slumps to 10-month low

The eurozone's Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI)fell to 99.9 in September, the lowest level since November, the European Commission said Monday, according to dpa.

Among the largest eurozone economies, the ESI contracted by 0.9 points in Italy and by 0.3 points in Germany, while it rose in France (+0.2 points) and Spain (+0.5 points).

The outlook was also gloomy in the European Union as a whole, as the index fell by one point compared to August to 103.6, another 10-month low.

The Business Climate Indicator, a eurozone index compiled by the commission, decreased slightly by 0.09 points to 0.07.
