Saudi Agriculture 2014 bolsters relations with trading countries

Saudi Agriculture 2014, the 33rd international agriculture, water and agro-industry trade show, concluded Wednesday (Sept.10) its four-day run at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. Around 25,000 specialized local, regional and international visitors attended the event that hosted 350 exhibitors from 40 countries to showcase the latest industry products and technologies to the local and regional visitors.

Inaugurated by Dr. Fahd Abdulrahman Balghunaim, Minister of Agriculture, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Saudi Agriculture 2014 shed light on a variety of industry leading solutions and products represented under various categories, including agriculture building construction, animal health and production, finance and banking, machinery and equipment, chemicals and fertilizers, fisheries and fish farming, greenhouses, irrigation and landscaping equipment, and organic farming.

Dr. Tarun Bajaj, Head of the Indian Pavilion, said: “Business relations between India and the Kingdom continues to remain strong and has resulted in remarkable growth in the agriculture and agro-food fields – where Indian food exports to the Kingdom currently stand at over $2 billion and still continues to increase. We are aware of the major role played by Saudi Agriculture in easing the communication with our local industry pillars to further support business cooperation and therefore, we have been participating regularly for the past 4 years to highlight our various selection of best-of-breed products, technology and investment opportunities. Our participation this year has increased into 50 companies, which is up from 30 in the last edition and we look forward to furthering our participation in the 2015 edition.”

From another side, Daniel Cunningham, Commercial Attache, said: “Agriculture sector forms around 47 percent of the total Irish exports to Saudi Arabia valued at €1.1 billion. Saudi Agriculture is an anchor event that offers our companies the right platform to promote our leading products in the fields of engineering, equipment and wastewater technology solutions. The feedback from our first year at Saudi Agriculture was very positive and we are glad with the quality of visitors and topics being discussed and looking forward for a bigger participation next year.”

The premier Saudi event also included The Saudi Agriculture Seminar Series that focused during their two-day run on the four key topics, including ‘Agribusiness in Saudi Arabia and Exploring Future Investment Strategies,’ ‘Exploring Future of Greenhouse Management and Organic Farming in Saudi Arabia,’ ‘Growing Industries of Poultry Farming and Aquaculture in Saudi Arabia,’ and ‘Saudi Arabia Irrigation Challenges and Future Water Resource Solutions.’

Held concurrently with Saudi Agriculture 2014 were Saudi Agro-Food 2014, the 21st international trade show for food products, ingredients and technologies,  and Saudi Food-Pack 2014 – the 4th international trade exhibition for food processing & packaging. The show is accredited by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).
