Msheireb Properties and Vodafone-Qatar have entered into a partnership that will see Vodafone become the primary provider of mobile services for Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), the world's first sustainable downtown regeneration project.
As part of this agreement, Vodafone will build and maintain the mobile sites on the premises to provide superior network coverage and data speeds to customers using the latest technology such as 4G and beyond. Vodafone is also committed to supply any future technology requirements that might emerge as the construction progresses.
The agreement was signed by Vodafone Qatar's Chairman Sheikh Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah al Thani and Msheireb Properties CEO Abdulla Hassan al Mehshadi.
Commenting on the agreement, Sheikh Khalid said,"We are proud to enter into a partnership with Msheireb Properties. Our partnership is a natural fit as we are two organisations that are a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation established to support the Foundation's aims and the Qatar National Vision 2030. Vodafone is committed to supply Msheireb with state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure that will meet this project's ambitious aims."
Mehshadi said,"With Msheireb Downtown Doha, Msheireb Properties aims to transform the urban environment in Qatar, blending aspects of our traditional heritage and aesthetics with modern technology and design. We could not have asked for a better partner than Vodafone to meet our communication requirements that guarantee international levels of service and experience to our esteemed patrons who expect only the best from a pioneering project such as ours. Both the organisations share a combined vision of establishing Qatar as a centre for business excellence and this collaboration further underlines our commitment to our customers to provide a robust ICT infrastructure that is the foundation for any modern development."
The Msheireb DownTown Doha(MDD) project aims to create a legacy for sustainable urban development in Qatar by reviving the old commercial district of Doha with a new architectural language that is modern, yet inspired by traditional Qatari heritage and design.
The entire development is designed to consume fewer resources, generate less waste, lower costs and achieve a reduced carbon footprint. On completion, MDD will be the world's largest certified sustainable community with over 100 commercial buildings.© Copyright - Qatar Tribune
